Marilyn Alder Rasband, our fun-loving mom and grammy, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2019 in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Midway, Utah on May 2, 1942. She married J. Lynn Rasband on February 2, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. Some of her many talents were baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, sewing, crocheting, and interior design. She was a talented organist and especially loved playing for her wards and at the Provo Temple. She loved playing the piano but loved teaching her students to play even more. She was regarded as Grammy by not only her grandchildren, but many others she adopted as well.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn; her children Kevin (Methany) Rasband, Karen (Brian) Haskell, Ken (Pam) Rasband, Kate (Paul) Colton and Dennis Gumah; 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; her siblings; Calvin (Joan-deceased) Alder, Wayne (Janet) Alder, Boyd (Alice) Alder, Colleen (Dave) Larson and Kathy (Tom) Howe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Della Alder.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel at 250 East 200 South, Midway, Utah, on Friday, May 17th at 11:00 am. Viewings will be held on Thursday night, May 16th from 6 to 8 pm and Friday before the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Midway City Cemetery.
Her family would like to send their love and thanks to all of the many doctors, nurses and staff who took such great care of her during her stay at Utah Valley Hospital.
